Is cloud or our own server cheaper?

The answer depends on how variable your traffic is and where the data has to sit; there is no single right choice. For fluctuating loads cloud usually works out cheaper, while for steady and predictable loads your own server can cost less over three years. INDOLES calculates both on three-year total cost and puts the exit cost in the table too.

What is lock-in risk and why does it matter?

Lock-in risk is what you would pay to leave a provider: migrating data, rewriting systems and downtime. Nobody asks about it when signing, and by the time leaving is necessary there is no negotiating power left. INDOLES calculates it at the decision stage, and no choice is finalised without exit cost included in the recommendation.

Can we migrate without downtime?

Most migrations can be done with no downtime or a very short window; the method follows the system's structure and is written into the migration plan. For critical systems the new and old setups run in parallel for a period and the old one is retired only once accuracy is confirmed. A way back stays open at every step — no one-way moves.

Our data has to stay in Turkey — is cloud still an option?

A data-residency requirement does not automatically rule out cloud; several major providers operate data centres in Turkey, and a hybrid setup can keep sensitive data in-house while the rest moves out. INDOLES first maps which data falls under which regulation and narrows the options from there. Compliance is a column in the comparison table, not a check bolted on afterwards.

We have backups — is a check still needed?

Having a backup is not enough; it has to be restorable, and that is only known by trying. A common finding in practice is this: backups have been running for months but never restored, and when they are, they come back incomplete or corrupted. In this service INDOLES performs a real restore test and reports the result.

What does technology and infrastructure advisory cover?

The service covers deciding where systems run and what that costs per year. It runs in four steps: an inventory with a billing breakdown, load testing plus a restore-from-backup trial, a comparison of cloud, on-premise and hybrid on three-year cost and exit cost, then a step-by-step migration plan. The choice follows what leaving will cost in three years, not today's price.

We have no one to make technology decisions — does this fill that gap?

The service takes on the technical assessment at decision points: it builds the inventory, compares the options in a cost and risk table, and delivers a reasoned recommendation in writing. It does not take on a standing technical leadership role; 24/7 managed services and day-to-day system administration stay outside the scope. The split exists to keep decision quality inside the company — the table and the reasoning stay with you, and nothing is implemented without approval.

The system slows down on busy days — how do you diagnose that?

Limits are found by testing rather than guessing: load tests are run, resource usage is measured, and what happens when one component fails is tried out. The capacity report shows how far the system holds and which link breaks first. Adding capacity without that measurement usually means spending money in the wrong place.

How do you bring infrastructure cost down?

First the scattered bills are gathered into one table; in most companies that list is seen together for the first time. Then unused services, idle resources and wrong-sized capacity are identified — in most setups there are lines that can be cut immediately. The lasting reduction comes from the options comparison, because that is where three-year total cost is calculated.

Do you run a security review?

A baseline security review is included: access rights, open ports and patch status are examined, and the gaps found are listed in priority order. Penetration testing and in-depth security certification sit outside this service; they need separate expertise and a separate agreement. On the backup side an actual restore test is performed, because an untested backup does not count as a backup.

When is this service the wrong choice?

If the expectation is ongoing system administration or a 24/7 managed service, this scope does not provide it. Server, network equipment and hardware procurement are not part of it either; INDOLES writes the requirement into the specification but does not handle the purchase. If the problem lies in the software rather than the infrastructure, the work moves to custom software; if it lies in scattered processes, to digital transformation.
